ICID: The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID),established in 1950, is the leading scientific, technical and not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). ICID, through its network of professionals spread across more than a hundred countries, has facilitated sharing of experiences and transfer of water management technology for over half-a-century. ICID supports capacity development, stimulates research and innovation and strives to promote policies and programs to enhance sustainable development of irrigated agriculture through a comprehensive water management framework.
ANAFIDE: The Moroccan National ICID Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ANAFIDE) established in 1970 is the official representative of Morocco within ICID. It is very active both nationally and internationally in the fields of irrigation, drainage, rural development and environment. ANAFIDE is a Non-Governmental Organization recognized formally as Public Utility Association in 1988. It has a Committee of Elders chaired by the Founder of this association: Mr Abdallah BEKKALI, Honorary Vice President of ICID. ANAFIDE members include individuals or institutionsfrom public or private sectors. ANAFIDE’s Annual General Assembly held in February 2016, elected a new Executive Board which is chaired by an Professional Agricultural Engineer, Director General, of a Soil and Construction Materials Testing Laboratory. ANAFIDE’s Board also includes members working in public adminsitrations, engineering companies, contarctors and academic institutions, etc. ANAFIDE has been conducting various activities to promote debate about policies and programs to enhance sustainable development of irrigated agriculture and water management related activities in the country. The National Committee has organized the 13th International ICID Congress in Casablanca in 1987 and also IEC meetings and several other joint activities in collaboration with other ICID national committees.The newly elected Moroccan ICID Vice President who is a decision maker in the field of irrigation development and management in Morocco is an advocate of a strong and fruitful cooperation between ICID and its National Moroccan Committee.
